...when our hearts are full we need much less

  • Why the Hope?

The defining moment in my life that shifted the way I was thinking...and brought me to ubuntu.

  • Who am I?

    Great question. Tough to answer.

  • What I do

In the sense of living and breathing and working and playing.

Ohhhh it's been a couple of looong days. The work here is tough! Or maybe I'm just not used to manual labour everyday for 7 hours. It feels good though, sweating under the African Sun. Friday we had to take a fence line down so that the animals could migrate through the road and therefore, we had to take fence posts out of the ground. This involved a TLB. I can't remember what that stands for, but it was fuuun to operate!

I'm not sure how they let me use such a big machine like that....renee broke the window though so I guess I couldn't do much worse!

The African sunsets here are so beautiful. Everyday when we get off work we lay around the pool a bit, then read and watch the sun go down. It gets cooold after the sun goes down, but makes up for +28 days everyday.

Wednesday being the night we go out to dinner, we found a traditional south african restaurant named the Bronberg and had a wicked time there. Our waiter was very patient with us, I got some good videos, but can't seem to get those on this slow computer. Soooooon enough.

bahaha, this was the biggest meal on the menu - I decided to have it (and shared...a bit)...ribs and "sump" which are kinda like mashed potatoes but not really. with gravy. yum!

Thursday being Lorna's last night here, we had a little partay. Cheersed our Cadbury Cream Eggs for Easter and learned some new games...Saturday Madelaine and I went to the market. I saw so much traditional African artwork, crafts, and bartered my ass off with a ton of locals. It was fuuuun.

I think I've mentioned, Saturday nights are when we do the braai. The past two have been wonderful, although this last one got a little craaazy, dance parties...I introduced Sociables...we weren't feeling all that well Sunday and the dogs somehow got into the poolhouse and gone were the leftovers. Fun thing to clean up hungover.

    The scene of the braai

Lorna cooking at our last braai

Snag sausage and a "flatty" --- chicken

Games much later...I've come to love cider more than beer I think....

We did; however, manage to visit the largest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere Sunday....which was 'bloody brilliant'

The largest incense holder I've ever seen. Josh & Pete this one's for you!!!!

This was one of the rooms to sit, worship...send your prayers...I sent a couple of my own to Buddha

Tomorrow night, since it's one of Mary's last nights, we're going for a game drive on the reserve. I hope we run into the giraffe again...apparently there's so much more I haven't even seen yet.
I'm so excited for Wednesday...I bought a couple English dictionaries at the market and plan to buy many, many more, as well as a ton of learning guides, books & pens to give to Nyawira and the Chief. Then, Friday morning I'm off for 4 days to Victoria Falls - apparently it's one of the seven natural wonders of the world...not sure if that's correct, but google said it was. :)
    Anyways, love to you alllll!
