Mother. Girlfriend. Daughter. Sister. Auntie. Volunteer. Connector. Business Woman. Consultant. Goofball. Gypsy. Traveler.
Passionate. Emotional. Determined. Motivated. Empowered.
Lover of people and life.
So many ways to describe someone and it's tough to describe yourself. Here goes:
I have moved around my entire life, mainly around the Prairies. I've lived in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Rimbey, Assiniboia, St. Albert, Virden, Winnipeg and I currently reside in Kelowna, B.C. I've done my fair share of travelling, mainly for volunteer trips, to places like South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, Guatemala, El Salvador and around Western Europe. I have traveled on planes, trains and tuk tuks and lived on the Sicily island for twenty-four-sun-soaking-wine-loving days with two of my best girlfriends.
I am a new momma-to-be and adjusting to the beautiful transition of going from single warrior princess to family of three.
My family is my world. We often travel to see the rest of our family in Saskatchewan and southern Ontario. I have three nephews and two nieces that light up my life...along with quite a few adopted nieces and nephews among my girlfriends. I have soul sisters around the globe who are also family to me and I'd do anything for them.
I think this life is a true gift, a sacred one. I'm an empath, which means I feel it to the core. I spend much of my time connecting with the great loves of my life, and other time in nature, swimming, hiking, playing beach volleyball or canoeing. I love to slow down with mediation and yoga. Cooking is like medicine for my mind and gardening is for my soul. We're a superfood, fermenting family that still indulges in chocolate and cookie dough here and there.
You could call me a serial volunteer. I've been that way since "the moment my life changed" in 2005. I'm a bleeding heart for so many causes, but I have honed my active devotion down to gender equality and food security. I sit on the board for two organizations: I.W.E.N. Canada, which works with marginalized woman both in Canada and in Nepal, and Otra Fe, an organization of campecino farmers I met in El Salvador. I recently completed my Certificate of International Development through UBC and desire a long-term career doing development work worldwide.
I studied Marketing in college, received a Bachelor's degree in Management and was the Vice President of a marketing company at twenty-three. I've worked with hundreds of companies to increase their presence within desired markets and connect with their customers. I currently hold the title Director of Marketing for a company called FineLine Solutions, a fundraising and donor engagement company for large non-profits across North America. I think social enterprise and conscious capitalism are going to drive forward the non-profit world to new heights. In my "spare" time I write poetry and creative non-fiction, and I consult with a few companies and NGOs on their strategic communications.
Over the years, I've discovered a love for the earth, a skill for business, a need for needing next-to-nothing and a desire for a life of traveling, spending time in the woods, candles, passionate conversations, oh so many books, mountains, all the wine, writing, Spanish, and farmer market foods.
I'm glad you're here. Please do reach out to me if you've found this little home on the web.
