Richard Attenborough definitely got something right when creating the film Cry Freedom. Denzel Washington portrays the accent and spirit of Stephen Biko so well. In the film, South African journalist Donald Woods is forced to flee the country after attempting to investigate the death in custody of his friend, the black activist Steve Biko. The idea that Attenborough created this film in '87, with Mandela still in jail and so much ongoing uncertainty in SA...is well, brave.
