...a better glance at what I'll be doing in just under a month:
- In areas of India where girls and women receive disproportionate opportunities in respect to education and jobs, volunteers provide Conversational English and Computer classes for local adolescent girls and grown up women.
- Better English skills and more advanced computer knowledge means better employability and increased confidence for women in rural parts of India.
- Morale boosting of women through fun activities, creative workshops or vocational training.
- Imparting basic life skills, specially for orphan adolescents.
- Female volunteers can be extremely helpful in imparting knowledge of family planning and sexual health as these issues are considered taboo in the conservative Indian society.
