...when our hearts are full we need much less

  • Why the Hope?

The defining moment in my life that shifted the way I was thinking...and brought me to ubuntu.

  • Who am I?

    Great question. Tough to answer.

  • What I do

In the sense of living and breathing and working and playing.

Did you know that until 2008 (read that - two thousand and eight) there was still one high school in the United States of America that held segregated proms?

Although the students of the school had been going to class together since 1970, they held a black prom and a white prom until four years ago. Four years ago! Four years ago, there was a town in (what is supposedly) the most powerful nation in the world, where black teenagers weren't allowed to go to the same prom as their white counterparts.

    WHAT?!

Morgan Freeman documents the story of Charleston High School in Mississippi. He actually offered to pay for the prom in 1997 if they had ONE PROM, a racially integrated prom; however, the offer was refused. Not until 2008 was it accepted. There's a short documentary that I believe is pretty touching, but I just can't believe this was only four years ago.

"If it's left up to the kids, it's gonna be fine."
