I love Ted talks and I love Gayle Lemmon so my cousin just sent me the best combination. Yes I'm on a blogging rampage today. I have goosebumps after watching this video. It discusses why woman don't just need micro loans, but they need to be considered for serious investment. It's about global growth and global employment. And when we change the way we see ourselves, others will follow.
Women can no longer be half the population and a special interest group.
Heck yes.
Talking about a women in Afghanistan:
"Business was critical to her countries future. Because long after this round of internationals had left, business would keep her country peaceful and secure."
"Business was even more important for women. By earning an income, they earn respect. Money was power for women."
"Here were girls who braved danger to become breadwinners during years in which they couldn't even be on their streets." (how powerful is that?)
I think the message for women out there is said best by Gayle when she said:
Never import other people's limitations. Women are not exceptions.
