...when our hearts are full we need much less

  • Why the Hope?

The defining moment in my life that shifted the way I was thinking...and brought me to ubuntu.

  • Who am I?

    Great question. Tough to answer.

  • What I do

In the sense of living and breathing and working and playing.

I may have fibbed before but I'm SERIOUS this time. Time for the blogging to commence. Soo exciting news, I'm officially sitting on the board of Little Travellers, as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. If you've never heard of this amazing grassroots organization:

"Little Travellers" are beautiful, beaded pins made by women affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

We sell these pins for $5 each across the world, with 100% of the proceeds going to help fight HIV/AIDS in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, where over 40% of adults are infected.

You can read more about them here: http://www.littletravellers.net.

Exciting things are happening as the not for profit grows, so I feel excited and honoured to be able to participate at this time. I am also potentially sitting on the board of Nine Circles...a local HIV/AIDS clinic. To be involved both overseas where my heart of heart lives, as well as locally, would be a dream come true. I will hear in time about Nine Circles.

Speaking of local, a couple weeks I finally got out to Siloam Mission. I will put those thoughts in my next post.

Today I went to the bookstore because I looooove the bookstore and it seems fate follows me around in there. I walked in, browsed for a good hour, bought gifts, and then went to the AWESOME discount section. What do I first pick up there, but a book that intrigued me with the title, "We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families." Without realizing what this was, I picked it up and voila - it's stories from the Rwanda genocide in '94.

This is my next goal, to get to Rwanda in 2010. This is what I am working for, saving for, and believing in. So, it seemed too appropriate to NOT buy the book. I love how it allllllll woorks.

    LOVE.

PS just had my 24th bday last week and it couldn't have been more special because of the amazing people in my life...my sister with her picture cards and flowers...the girls & work beauties with flowers and love at dinner...jenni and her ongoing amazing crafts that make me cry...the cards...the phone calls from Africa, Korea, and of course my family..everyone who made it to din. Anyways, 24 isn't a big deal, but I AM. Kidding. Everyone made me feel lucky though and a great way to start my new year with a determined and blissful focus on the goals and people who make me happy!
